![]() Or you can create your own hero with your own banner, simply your own kingdom. You can either play the same hero thousands of other people do under the same banner millions of people use. That is not an important thing to do, but it sure feels different. PLAYERS IMAGE - Another important multiplayer aspect is players ability to create his unique image. I always was pretty terrible strategist - always loved the games, though. Now, I have to be honest - I have got no clue on how competitive Heroes 3 games look. On shorter maps, the battles are also more balanced and strategy of a player makes more significant role. Competitive matches should revolve around smaller maps that give enough space for player to develop their kingdom and hero(es), yet doesn’t take too much time. This usually takes up couple of hours, which is too much for an online match - especially competitive one. Core aspect of Heroes games is the ability to develop your empire and unique playstyle along the way. Popular esport games last from couple of minutes up to one hour max per match. It’s harder for turn based strategy game to do so though. If you look at popular online games, they all have some ranked progression that allows players to battle same-level opponents, rank up the ladder and have fun doing it. Correct way for upcoming Heroes title is simple - create a multiplayer that rewards player for progression. Not sure about abroad, but Heroes 3 leagues are still very popular in my country and have many players daily. Multiplayer - One of core aspects of the game, and the reason Heroes of Might & Magic 3 is still played, after all these 20 unbelievable years, is multiplayer. It’s time to recall our roots to fight for future. The best thing how to deal with this situation is to take a blank paper, write all mechanics of Heroes 3 and rewrite some of these with better (more intuitive, interesting) mechanics introduced in later games. I just loved the story aspect of it though. everyone hates it, the developers hate it, I like it. Town areas in MMH6? Great thing, and you could even choose not to use it. I personally loved the hero progression in Heroes 5 (set of unique abilities leading to the ultimate ability), yet I also loved variety of heroes in MMH7. All other Heroes games brought some interesting things that could, combined, make for and interesting and fluent game. Heroes 3 had some great mechanics and we see it up to this day. ![]() Yet I think it is time to make a working game before jumping into this “go crazy go stupid” mood again. It’s good for new Heroes games to try something new instead of cloning again and again something that works great. Mechanics - You know, I’m all for experimenting and trying out new things. You know, Heroes 3 is this boomer grandpa who is ashamed of his depressed millennial grandkids. Anything 2D would be yet another bad remake of Heroes 3, instead we should aim at making something that Heroes 3 would be proud of. It’s not necessary for 2019 tripple A game to be 3D. After 4 years it’s been out I still have problems with MMH7 because I find the map to be confusing too much. One look and you know well where everything is, nothing is blending with the background nor standing out too much. Well, not literally, but it looks amazing and is clear. The graphics of MMH6 were beautiful, but the main reason why I love it is because it’s the closest you can get for 3D game to look like 2D game. If you haven’t downvoted yet, first off - thank you. Not that Might & Magic franchise would be the priority right now, but a man can dream, right? Minor thing to say is that Gamescom 2019 is scheduled for 20th of August 2019, and if I recall correctly, last Might & Magic titles were all announced there. Let’s debate like a cultural beings (with Expert Diplomacy in terms of speaking with other people and Expert Eagle Eye in terms of understanding the point of view of other people) we are. Still, there are other things that could possibly make upcoming Heroes game better - remember that these are my own points and I would be glad if you also typed down your personal points. If this didn’t happen, many players would not have such a hard times starting the game for the second time. ![]() I believe we all can agree that most problems were caused by rushed releases leading to unfinished and buggy games being released. After two last Heroes games published by Ubisoft were rather denied by the community, the best thing for the developement team is to look back at what Heroes really stands for - what it meant in the past and what should be it’s image in the future.
